The Dallas Stars and Carolina Hurricanes have opened their 2016-17 season with a 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night in Nashville, Tenn.
Dallas will have its first home game of 2016-2017 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
The Stars will return to the ice for the first time since November 22, when they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Stars defenseman Jordie Benn and forwards Jordie Turco and Alexander Radulov were named to the game’s first line with Jason Demers.
The Hurricanes will start the season with four players in the lineup.
Defenseman Dmitry Kulikov, defenseman Jussi Jokinen, forward Trevor van Riemsdyk and forward Tyler Johnson are among the four who have not yet played in the season opener.
The Stars were without Jamie Benn for the entirety of the regular season, and the team’s best player has missed the majority of the past two seasons with a knee injury.
Benn is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday.
